Communion; The Art of Observation

A recent experience attending an exhibit of “Outliers,” self-taught artists, reminded me how the act of observation, of really seeing, is a form of communion. Communion, meaning: the “sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially when the exchange is on a mental or spiritual level.” Like the Christian religious ritual, really seeing is a profound, deeply meaningful experience. Creative Writing

While writing–what is known as “creative writing” doesn’t exactly fall into the definitionWritersAll of the craft of “making things by hand,” I’m going to expand my horizons a bit and include some of my writing because: a.) it is a CRAFT that requires practice, thought, and serious introspection, b.) “creative writing” is as much self-expression as any abstract expressionist painting, and c.) Opening a Lens on Myself

This story starts when I was very young, before 10 years old. I’m in a darkroom and there is a red light above.
